Every September, Blackpool hosts the World Fireworks Championship. Crowds gather on the seafront to watch the explosions of colour as the fireworks erupt overhead. The pyrotechnics are perfectly accompanied by a musical score, which could be anything from classical overtures to heavy metal.
A different country performs on each of three consecutive Fridays. On the fourth Friday, the event culminates with the British display and the winner of the competition is announced.
