Over 100 varieties of cherry tree in full bloom line the path, forming a living tunnel of pink and white petals through which the crowds pass. This event, known as Torinuke ('passing through'), occurs at the Osaka Mint every April. Torinuke is particularly famous for the rare, double petaled pom pom flowers of the late blooming yae-zakura trees. Thousands of visitors flock from all over Japan to see this spectacle.
